The scientist from University of Alberta and the National Institute for Nanotechnology has extended of operation life an unsealed of plastic solar cell. The changes of longer life time of this solar cell very significant, at the beginning solar cell can stand just for hours, after modification using plastic materials they can stand longer more than 8 months.
This founding really will change of using energy storage like battery and other kind of energy storage and problem of chemical leaching within the body of their prototype. A chemical coating on an electrode usually was unstable and migrated through the circuitry of the cell.
The prior experiment of using polymer coating breakthrough the research team, that plastic solar cell could only operate at high capacity for about ten hours. On the presentation, their plastic solar cell had performed at high capacity for 500 hours and keep on working when it was seven months. The team said that this plastic solar cell just damage if they are moved to other laboratories.
Base on that founding, energy saving system and energy resources will more develop to the condition currently that have on crisis energy. But as we known solar cell just can be used in the country that much of sun light, like in the tropical countries. For country that just short time of having sun light will have difficulties of functioning this founding.
